Home Office accepts review recommendations on digital immigration status

The Home Office has published its response to an independent inspection of the Future Border and Immigration System programme, the programme behind eVisas and other digital status tools. Published on 15 September 2026, the response accepts all three recommendations from the inspection "in full."
This matters if you rely on an eVisa or other digital proof of your immigration status. The response describes the programme as having delivered "Electronic Travel Authorisations, eVisas, major fee income benefits" and points to further work on "transformation of digital permission capabilities."
There's no new action for visa holders right now. This is a policy and governance response, not a change to how you check or prove your status today. If you already use an eVisa, keep using the same process to prove your status to employers, landlords or at the border.
